1. Personal Data Controllers
   The controllers of your personal data are the organizers of the International African Congress, namely:
   1. the Center for Eastern and African Studies, with its registered office at LubickaSt. 44, 87-100 Toruń;
   2. the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Studies of the University of Warsaw, with its registered office at Krakowskie PrzedmieścieSt. 26/28, 00-927 Warsaw;
   3. the Faculty of Law and Administration of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, with its registered office at Władysława BojarskiegoSt. 3, 87-100 Toruń;
   4. the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, with its registered office at Gagarina St. 13a, 87-100 Toruń;
   5. the Professor Czesław Mojsiewicz Foundation for International Cooperation Support, with its registered office at LubickaSt. 44, 87-100 Toruń.

   The Controllers have not appointed a joint Data Protection Officer.
2. Processing of Personal Data
   Personal data are processed by the Controllers for the following purposes:
   1. to establish contact with the data subject;
   2. to prepare and conduct the 4th International African Congress;
   3. to carry out promotional activities for the above-mentioned event and its future editions;
   4. to prepare materials summarizing the event, including photographic documentation;
   5. to provide participants’ data to the competent authorities for the purpose of obtaining funding for the Congress.
   Personal data are processed by the Controllers on the basis of:
   1. consent, to the extent to which the data subject has given such consent, pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons regarding the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC, hereinafter referred to as the GDPR;
   2. the legitimate interest pursued by the Controller, pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, in particular with regard to conducting promotional activities and preparing materials summarizing the event, in accordance with Recital 47 of the GDPR.
   The Controllers process the following categories of personal data:
   1. first name and surname;
   2. telephone number and e-mail address;
   3. academic degree;
   4. affiliation;
   5. other personal data voluntarily provided by the data subject or made available in publicly accessible sources.
   Personal data will be processed by the Controllers for a period of 2 years from the date of completion of the event, with the reservation that the Controller shall not delete data that have been published, nor destroy copies of materials summarizing the event that have been delivered to third parties.
   Personal data are not subject to profiling by the Controllers.
   Personal data may be transferred by the Controllers to recipients in countries outside the European Union, “third countries,” as part of promotional activities conducted on social media platforms.
3. Recipients of Data The recipients of personal data may include:
   • employees and associates of the Controllers;
   • entities processing personal data on behalf of the Controllers, including IT service providers, the honorary patron of the event, and accounting and bookkeeping service providers.
   The above-mentioned persons/entities shall process data only on the basis of an agreement or authorization issued by the Controllers.
4. Rights Related to the Processing of Personal Data In connection with the processing of your personal data, you have the following rights:
   1. the right to withdraw consent to the processing of data;
   2. the right of access to personal data;
   3. the right to request rectification of personal data;
   4. the right to request deletion of personal data;
   5. the right to request restriction of the processing of personal data;
   6. the right to object to the processing of data in cases where we process your data on the basis of our legitimate interest;
   7. the right to data portability, i.e. the right to receive from us your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable IT format, and the right to request that we transmit such data to another controller;
   8. the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority responsible for personal data protection in Poland, namely the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.
